We’ve got some big news! The wonderful Madame Sorel’s Lodger has been named a finalist for The Bridge Book Award. This award is given to four books each year, a fiction and nonfiction title from Italy and America. This is a stupendous honor, as only five books by American authors are chosen for consideration by an Italian jury.
Some info on the award:
“The Bridge Book Award is proposed as a “bridge” that unites Italian and American cultures with the aim of strengthening mutual understanding through Literature. The prize consists of a contribution to the costs of translating the winning books, fiction and non-fiction, from Italian into English and vice versa. In this way the project intends to promote knowledge and encourage the reading of some of the best and most recent publications of both fiction and non-fiction of the two countries. The Award also aims to promote the diffusion of the Italian language and encourage its dissemination in the American publishing, universities and institutions abroad. The four authors of the winning books, two Americans and two Italians, are invited to the awards ceremony in Rome and New York respectively.”
We’re thrilled for this little-book-that-could, truly an amazing read by a multi-talented author (who, by the way, has another book coming out in September!). Congratulations to all the authors, books, and presses named as finalists, and a big, enthusiastic congratulations to Tracy. The winners will be announced this fall.
